 ANNUAL REPORT – 2017-2018

 “The woods are lovely, dark and deep but I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep”
 
These deep lines of Robert Frost synchronise with the motto of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan ‘Tatvam Pooshan Apaavrunu.’ “Seekers of true knowledge are engaged in ceaseless striving but we know that it is not easy to achieve our objective.” At the same time we feel happy and uplifted to enlist our achievements by god’s grace and united activities during the last academic year 2017-18.
 
1.      During last 36 years Kendriya Vidyalaya Cooch Behar has grown by leaps and bounds and has created many personalities of repute. It had a simple beginning in a Military Barrack in the month of September 1982 with 128 students and 06 teachers.
 
2.      On 4th July 1994, the Vidyalaya was shifted to the present building with beauty and grandeur on the outskirts of district Coochbehar in the pristine Nilkuthi, Baburhat. As on today nearing the strength of 1000 students and 45 staff members with achievements at different fronts, it has covered a niche in the portals of reputed educational institutions.
 
3.      Each teacher is prepared to recognise record, feel proud and contribute his or her talent for the betterment of the students. Last session our students achieved the applauding certificates from CBSE for their performance in the board exam of classes 10 and 12.The Vidyalaya result reflects its Academic excellence. Total students appeared in Class 10th was 73 and the result was 100% and 80 students appeared in class XII AISSCE Board Exams 2017 and the result was 98.75%. We are very much hopeful of the bright result this year also. It gives me immense pleasure to announce that 16 students of class X got 10 CGPA last year. Master Rohit Mishra was the Topper of the School in 2017 AISSCE Board Exams. He scored 93.8 % in Science stream. Ms. Payal Paul was the Topper in the Humanities Stream by scoring 92.6%. All these jewels of the Vidyalaya received a cash prize of Rs 5000 each from CBSE. Our teachers are also not far behind. You will be happy to know that one of our senior teachers, Mrs. Protima Saha (PRT) received the prestigious Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan regional incentive award for her contributions to the Sangathan and the Vidyalaya. I would like to congratulate her here once again.
 
4.      Our Vidyalaya got permanent appointment of teachers which were lying vacant for long. Myself Reji V R Nath joined the Vidyalaya as Principal in the month of November 2017. Mr. Abhimanyu Kumar, PGT (Bio), Ms. Kanchan, PGT(Eco), Mr. Rahul Kumar (TGT S.Sc) and Mr. Manoj Kumar Sahani (PRT) joined this Vidyalaya on fresh posting in the month of October 2017. Mr. Bimal Chandra Das, Lab attendant and Mr. Akbar Hussain Sub staff of the Vidyalaya retired from service on superannuation after rendering a long service to the Kendriya Vidyalaya sangathan. We had a walk in interview for different vacant posts to prepare a panel of contractual teachers for the academic year on 26.02.2018 and we were really fortunate to get five talented teachers.
 
5.      An educational tour under ‘PARYATAN PARV’ was organized by our school for all the students. They were taken to visit the historical Rajbari of Coochbehar.
 
6.      Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has introduced common minimum programme for qualitative improvement of Primary education. Under this programme various steps have been taken to improve the teaching learning process. Film shows, CCA & games at cluster level, educational tour, celebration of Bal Divas, Grandparent’s Day celebration and Community lunch are part of the programme.
 
7.      The Science club of the Vidyalaya organised various programmes like World Health Day, World Earth Day, World Nature Conservation Day, World Science Day etc in the Vidyalaya. The Students as well as the teachers took active participation in these programmes. 05 students participated in Regional level Jawaharlal Lal Nehru Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition for 2018 held at KV Ballyganj. One student Master Shaswata Datta of class VIII represented the Vidyalaya at national level in National Children’s Science Congress held at Dehradun. Ms. Anindita Paul of class IX A participated in Mathematics Olympiad at cluster level held at KV Hasimara.
 
8.      Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) is also organized from time to time. Two teachers of the Vidyalaya attended the training programme on AE.
 
9.      We give important position to library. Our Library is equipped with Reference Books, Textual Books, Journals and Dailies. We have 5911 books in our library. We subscribe 26 periodicals and 03 dailies also. We are striving hard to increase the number of books.
 
10.The school provides all opportunities to every child for his physical, moral and mental development and with this end in view “the house system” has been introduced and all the co-curricular and sports activities are organized house-wise in the school. Various individual and group competitions were organized throughout the year. Various Activities were organized under CCA like celebration of Matrubhasha Divas on 21.02.2018, Cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharatmission, Education Day, National Unity Day, and Teachers Day. Yoga is a remedy in this modern mundane world. Meditation occupies an integral part of today’s fast-moving life. Yoga is offered as part of the curriculum for all classes. Our Morning Assembly begins with Pranayama. We had celebrated International Yoga Day on 21-06-2017. Students performed yoga under the guidance of the yoga instructor. Teachers had a separate session for yoga. Social Science Exhibition is meant to give students a universal outlook and global understanding. This is another area for students to show their originality and creativity. We are pleased to announce that our child master Aniket Deb of Class VIII participated in on the spot painting competition at national level which was held at New Delhi. Master Suvrit Prakash of class IX represented the Vidyalaya in English elocution at the regional level among the senior group. Master Jayabrato Guha also represented the Vidyalaya in solo song competition at the regional level. Ms. Asha Bakshi participated in Hindi debate competition at regional level which was held at KV Malda.   Many students participated in Quiz, Debate, and Album making competitions at school level. Two children of our Vidyalaya were conferred with gold medals in art and painting competition organized every year by K V Rajamundri. Hindi fortnight was celebrated to create a Hindi atmosphere in our Vidyalaya. Children enjoyed the Christmas Day celebration in our school. To take pledge against corruption all of us participated in the activities related to Vigilance Awareness week from Oct 31st to Nov 5th 2017. Children’s day celebration, national library week celebration, National Mathematics week celebration and national science day celebration were conducted in the apt time with various competitions like quiz, speech, skit etc.
 
11.Many children participated in different games and sports organized at different levels. Master Sumit Kumar Yadav and Anoop Chandra Barman of XI- B participated at KVS National Meet (Under 19 years) Cricket Boys from our Vidyalaya.
 
12.The Vidyalaya is registered with KVS Division of Bharat Scouts and Guides. There are 32 scouts and 32 guides registered in our vidyalaya and 24 students are enrolled as Cubs & Bulbuls each. Cubs & Bulbuls Utsav was celebrated on 22 Feb 2018. All the Cubs and Bulbuls performed various activities.Thinking day was celebrated in a befitting manner. Going up ceremony of Cubs and Bulbuls was conducted. Scouts and Guides of KV Coochbehar unit conducted community service which was really worth praising. Two teachers of the Vidyalaya attended basic training programme for scout master and cub master this year. 03 guides of the Vidyalaya are conferred with Rajya Puraskar. They are Ms Neha Thakur, Sanjana Jha and Ms. SuchetaDatta of class IX A. We are really proud of them. 08 scouts and 04 guides qualified Tritiyasopan testing camp.
 
13.Besides these, there were many more programmes organized which were really motivating to the children.
 
14.I would like to conclude the report with a quote. “The central task of education is to implant a will and facility for learning; it should produce not learned but learning people. The truly human society is a learning society where grandparents, parents and children are students together.”
